Personale gentilissimo e simpatico, locale molto carino. Metto 2 stelle per via del prezzo. Far pagare un soft-drink (una cocacola) 5 euro è eccessivo. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: €1–10

Ah, Il Toscanaccio. A restaurant whose name promises rustic Tuscan soul and slow-cooked delights—but whose service moves with the urgency of a daydreaming gondolier adrift in a sea of indifference. To be fair, it’s nicely located—tucked on a quiet street just steps from the Museo Nazionale del Bargello and the Fondazione Franco Zeffirelli Onlus. A perfect spot to stumble upon after an afternoon with Renaissance masters or cinematic legends. The kind of street that whispers, Just one glass of wine won’t hurt… The interior is cozy, lit with a warm Tuscan glow that flatters both your date and your delusions of being a local. Tables are spaced for romance or quiet brooding, and the chairs are mercifully comfortable. The wine glasses are a standard, sensible size—though you may find yourself wishing they were larger, if only to pass the time. Now, the service—which appears to follow its own celestial rhythm, orbiting somewhere just outside of time. We were seated quickly, then promptly left alone, as though the act of sitting down was the conclusion of the meal rather than the beginning. Our waiter had the tranquil energy of someone slowly composing poetry in his head. Menus drifted to the table like ancient scrolls. Water arrived in a dramatic third act twist. When we finally ordered, it felt like we were interrupting something profound. The food came eventually, though not always as requested, and with the kind of delivery that suggested either quiet defiance or an experimental approach to hospitality. Either way, we were too polite—or too hungry—to challenge the narrative. Meanwhile, nearby diners formed quiet support groups. One man began building a timeline of historical events that had occurred since his last course. Another asked Siri how long a person could survive without pasta. To the restaurant’s credit, the food was solid—well-prepared, flavorful, and delivered with enough time between courses to complete a short novel. Final rating: 5 stars for location: close to art, cinema, and philosophical introspection. 1 star for service: a slow-motion theater piece where you play a hungry extra. 3 stars overall: a lovely spot if you have time to spare and expectations to manage.
