We celebrated a birthday at Gurtners and the view was amazing. The staff were charming and very accommodating of our dog, kindly giving us a perfect corner table. While our table wasn't quite ready when we arrived, the service smoothed out, and the set menu courses (mostly meat) were well-paced and filling. The asparagus and soup were definite high points. My lamb was a bit more done than I typically prefer, but the creamy polenta was nice and rich. The pickled radishes didn't quite cut through the richness as hoped and missed the mark for me. The vegetarian option, particularly the "tandoori bits," felt a little disconnected and underwhelming. I also wondered what tandoori bits meant. Initial drinks were good, but the menu's wine was too acidic for my liking, causing some later discomfort. Overall, a lovely atmosphere and friendly service. I'd return for the view and nice team, perhaps trying different dishes from the menu rather than the courses. Price per person: CHF 100+ Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

We visited Restaurant Gurtners via the funicular and were greeted with stunning views of the surrounding area and the town below. The outdoor seating area offered a picturesque backdrop, but it would have been even better if the snow and ice had been cleared from the tables. The restaurant operates as a self-service venue where you pick your food and pay at the counter. On a chilly day, the heated plates were a thoughtful touch. The food was satisfying and added to the overall enjoyable experience. A great spot for a casual meal with amazing views—just wish they'd pay a bit more attention to outdoor maintenance in winter.
