Gladius quickly became one of my favorite restaurants during my time abroad in Florence. The ambiance was always so welcoming, and we were fortunate to always find a table without needing a reservation, which was a huge plus. Some of my personal favorites on the menu were the spaghetti with clams and the spaghetti with mussels. The food always arrived quickly and tasted incredibly fresh. I was initially skeptical about trying seafood in Florence, but the quality here was exceptional. The staff were incredibly kind and always helped guide us through the menu. I also had one of the best Hugo spritzes I’ve ever had! If you’re ever in Florence, don’t miss out on this gem! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Queues for 'named places to go' were a bit too silly for a wet and cold February evening. This place was partially full but had spaces. The food was spot on, fresh, nicely cooked, good flavours, portions that were neither too small nor left me feeling too bloated for dessert. The tirimasu was really rich and also very light. Yes, I almost licked the plate. The decor was great, maybe mid century American modern, but clean, light, and comfortable. The waitress (owner) was friendly without the over-the-top pretence at friendliness that seemed to accompany some recent meals in Naples..it was a refreshing change of pace and flavour. So if you are passing by and are hungry...this is a good option. I paid 38 euros in all for the meal and a glass of wine and water etc...I thought that was a more than fair price, especially in the centre of Florence. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
