My partner and I came in off the road on our way to Milan Linate Airport from Fano, southeastern coast. We were tired and hungry, and thought we'd take a chance on this restaurant-in-a-small-hotel based on its menu, which suggested there would be sufficient and interesting vegetarian fare for me. We were not the least bit disappointed--not with the offerings, the environs, or the service, which was stellar. The hostess and the waiter--mother and son, as it happens--fixed us up big-time at this charming, Old-World-style restaurant in (Greater?) Modena. It was midday on a Tuesday, and we were the only patrons there at the time, and walk-ins at that; our young waiter said weekdays could be that way, and then proceeded to answer all of our questions regarding the menu, pointing out what was traditional in the city of Modena, as well as what was not necessarily native to Modena, but beloved throughout the Emilia-Romagna region as a whole. For us, fresh bread has been a bit of a mixed bag during our travels in Italy, but here the proprietress made the most delightful, crusty loaf we'd had since our arrival--heavenly on its own; with olive oil; or just sopping up sauces from a plate at meal's end (which of course I did). We enjoyed the hand-made pasta so much that we placed a takeaway order for dinner, as we were to fly out the next morning and didn't know what our hotel would have on offer. And we were sent off with more fresh bread for this final leg of our journey...We even savored it with our own homemade hummus when we got home. (I've attached here a picture from breakfast back at the house. My priorities in reporting may be a bit skewed, but you get the idea.) In truth, the hospitality we encountered made it seem almost as if we were being put back on the road by family; we are very thankful to the team that treated us with such thoughtfulness and warmth that day. ...All in all, our experience at Ristorante LeVille was a fine way to bring our trip to a close! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: €30–40 Vegetarian options: There were several wonderful pasta dishes and sides suitable for vegetarians like myself.
