I have travelled the world extensively over 40 years. I ate at all restaurants ranging from pop & mom’s to Michelin three stars. This is my honest review of the restaurant Vicolo39 inside the Auberge Communale in Carouge, Geneva. I recently dined at this Italian restaurant and had a mixed experience. For the appetizer, we tried the burrata with a tomato-based sauce, capers, and orange slices. While the combination was intriguing, the dish lacked a bit in flavor. For the main course, I had pasta with veal ragout, which was interesting but slightly too salty for my taste. I also sampled another pasta dish, which was decent but not exceptional, as well as a pasta carbonara from one of my dining companions. The carbonara stood out with its bold, peppery flavors—while some at the table found it too peppery, I personally enjoyed it a lot. The wine recommendations were well-suited, and the overall price felt fair for the quality of the food. While not everything was perfect, there were definitely highlights, especially the carbonara. Worth a visit if you’re closeby. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: CHF 50–60 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
