You are in Genoa, the ancient port area, wandering here and there observing the ancient and the modern, it's time for lunch, how can you not aim for some fish specialities? After a careful search through some alleys we come across Trattoria Vegia Zena. The very friendly owner accompanies us to the table. The furniture is a mix, there is an air of ancient and modern wood. Simple equipment with a paper placemat where the menu is written and a napkin with the icon of a fish represented (it will be for the Genoa aquarium nearby). The transparency that you pay the cover charge is much appreciated, it is written right on the placemat, unfortunately there are places where it is not written and then at the end of the bill you are surprised to find the charge. The menu is varied, there is an offer of fish and meat. There is the temptation to have the starter, but to avoid overdoing it, we opt for 2 first courses of fresh pasta with clams and bottarga, amazing! Pasta cooked al dente, good clams and bottarga (an excellent quantity of bottarga). A second course of grilled fish which included sea bream, tuna (delicious), scampi, prawns, squid and some octopus, perfectly cooked which did not harden the fish and seasoned without exaggeration. All accompanied with an excellent light craft beer from Cuneo, I know usually wine is needed with fish, but there is also a change and under the advice of the owner, the craft beers went very well with the dishes. To finish we have two coffees and a dessert, chocolate cake, perhaps too much topping, but very tasty to end the meal. Value for money was adequate for how we ate and for the care taken with the service, fully satisfied. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: €30–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
