Overpriced, but the whole Split center is. Portions are also small, especially if you order the single portions of fish. Food itself and service are good.

This is a tourist trap. Small portions, bland dishes and outrageous prices. They put your food on a nice plate to make you think you are having a fine dining experience. When I wanted to pay by card they told us that the machine might not work and it’s better to pay with cash. When I insisted I wanted to try anyway the staff became a lot less friendly all of a sudden. Of course there was no problem with the machine. Don’t go here.

(During COVID travel). My wife and I have been in Split for nearly six-weeks, and there are a number of very good restaurants. Step By Step Bistro became one of our favorites. As other reviews have pointed out, the food is a bit more expensive here. However, I would also add, the quality of the food is a step up from the others. Also, from the outset we were welcomed as a friend or family. The owner (chef) and his wife are very accommodating and pleasant. As an example, the menu is not as broad as some of the other restaurants, and my wife wanted something that was not on the menu, so the chef mentioned he would make it for her as long as they had the ingredients in the kitchen. So there you have it, she got her meal. A true small family restaurant business. Also, if you’re expecting fast-food-fast, this is not your place. The food is made to order with patience and care. Come in, have a drink, an relax.
