The Römerhof hotel is a 3 star hotel, but should be a 4 star at least. The building looks and feels medieval and oozes character from the exterior to the interior. Our room was spacious and warm. The lights are a bit dim and the wall sockets are not located in the most convenient places, but I understand that it is due to the historical character of the building, so no complaints there. The breakfast was delicious with a good selection to satisfy everyone. My main dissatisfaction was with the unprotected guest WiFi. The guest network is not password protected (no WEP or WPA key needed to access), which is not acceptable in 2026, but can be easily fixed.

Stayed here for 3 nights so we could soak up Swiss atmosphere and see the Lionesses in St Gallen. Can honestly say it's one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in and I am quite well travelled. All the rooms are perfectly appointed and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was perfect, all kinds of cheeses, cold meats, yoghurt, muesli, jams and honey, lovely bread rolls, pastries, scrambled egg and bacon. All the staff are absolutely charming. We spoke a lot of (tourist) German but their English is superb as you would expect. It's a few minutes walk into town and the harbour one way, and the lake a few minutes walk the other way. Would LOVE to come back here! Service: 5
