Our Italian restaurant, located right on Interlaken’s main boulevard, offers all things Italian – and much more besides. This is the domain of Sapori or flavors. Fresh spices, fine oils and choice produce all belong to the Italian art of cooking, which follows one simple principle: preparing the best ingredients in such a way that they retain their character. Here we serve antipasti such as bruschette vari gusti, subtle creations like veal escalope with lime sauce, fresh fish and seafood as well as classic pasta dishes such as spaghetti alla carbonara. Vegetarians will also find a wide selection of tasty dishes on the menu. One highlight of the restaurant is the pizzaiolo, who uses the bread oven to make guests their favorite pizzas right before their eyes. The range is complemented by a wide selection of wines by the glass and special vintages from the best growing regions in Italy. The world of sapori is open for lunch and unhurried dinners based on set menus or à la carte. During the summer season the Sapori terrace in Interlaken invites to dine open-air from lunch time until the evening. The large patio offers the perfect ambience to indulge the Italien charm while enjoying the breathtaking mountain panorama.

Rating: 3 stars I visited Ristorante e Pizzeria Sapori in Interlaken with high expectations as it is known as a Michelin restaurant. Unfortunately, the overall experience was rather disappointing and did not meet my expectations. Food (3 stars): The quality of the food was solid, but not outstanding. The dishes were attractively presented, but tasted average. The flavors were sometimes unbalanced and the portions were rather small for the price. The dessert was particularly disappointing: we had ordered a chocolate mousse without pear compote, but instead we were served a lukewarm chocolate sauce without any decoration or sophistication. We were charged 28 CHF for this, which I found to be rude. However, after our complaint, we were kindly offered the dessert and the amount was removed from the bill. Still, the experience was far from Michelin-level. Service (2 stars): The service was friendly but not attentive enough, as it should be in a fine dining restaurant. The waiting times between courses were sometimes too long. The personal touch that is often expected in Michelin restaurants was missing here. Ambiance (3 stars): Overall, the atmosphere seemed a bit old. While the decor was neat, it lacked a modern and stylish atmosphere that one would expect from a restaurant of this category. It had more of the charm of an average eatery than an upscale Michelin restaurant. Price-performance: The biggest drawback for me was the price-performance ratio. The high prices do not justify the portion sizes, the quality of the food or the service. Unfortunately, the dessert incident highlights that the restaurant falls far short of the standards expected of a Michelin restaurant. Conclusion: Ristorante e Pizzeria Sapori offers a solid experience, but falls well short of the expectations of a Michelin restaurant. For the price I would have expected much more - both in terms of cuisine and atmosphere. The Sapori restaurant looks nice at first but is already getting a bit old.
