Avoid at all costs. Absolutely shocking experience. The owner initially came across as reasonable, but his wife — who appears to be the chef — was rude, aggressive, and completely unprofessional. When I politely explained that the food was bland, tasteless, and genuinely poor, along with the obvious lack of service due to insufficient wait staff, the situation deteriorated rapidly. Instead of addressing the criticism like a professional, she dragged nearby diners into the conversation, forcing other customers — who were simply trying to enjoy their evening — into an awkward and unnecessary public confrontation. It was embarrassing, uncomfortable, and entirely inappropriate. The service, despite being understaffed, was still better than the food itself — which was frankly disgraceful. I have eaten better meals from run-down kebab shops. Given the volume of negative reviews already highlighting the same issues with food quality and service, this clearly isn’t a one-off. Au Vieux Verbier is without question the worst restaurant experience I’ve had in Verbier. Do yourself a favour and stay well away. AVOID. Excellent for lunch or dinner. I’ve been coming here for 20plus years but after a 5 year break I can say it’s even better. Excellent chef for meats and puddings.
