First off, the service was excellent. The staff is super personable and attentive. It’s a small space, but it feels warm and welcoming. However, it’s quite a hefty price tag, and if I drop CHF 180.– on a dinner with wine pairing, I do expect the food to be on par. And to be honest, it felt a little bit underwhelming. It was tasty, but it pains me to say: after the third course of veggies lathered in some heavy sauce, it felt a little tired. Also, they should be a little bit more transparent about the additional costs created by the water and the aperitif. Because if you don’t know any better, you get the impression that things are included in the menu. In conclusion, I felt a little bit underwhelmed by the whole experience, even though the service staff does a great job.

We had a nice dinner at Mémoire and the staff was really friendly. Things turned sour at the end, when we found out all the extras they had been offering very casually and without mentioning price (water, tasting an extra wine, spirit at the end of the meal) were extra costs not included in the menu. For example, they kept bringing water without asking whether we wanted it and filling our glasses every 5 minutes, and it turns out every bottle was 9 CHF. This ended up doubling (!!) the price of our dinner. I've been to many menu-based restaurants in Zurich, and this never happened before. Either avoid this place or make sure you're clear on the cost/avoid any extras that they will make you pay out of the nose for.
