Some places stay with you. Berghaus Fuorcla Surlej is one of them. The setting is extraordinary and the views almost impossible to describe. But what touched me most was Veronica’s kindness. I hadn’t realised they only accept cash and didn’t have enough with me. Without hesitation, she simply told me to bring the money next time. That kind of trust between strangers feels increasingly rare. A small moment of genuine warmth in an already very special place. I’ll certainly be back — and, of course, with the money. I'm surprised by the bad reviews. I came here once when hiking in the summer and again this weekend while skiing. I've always had very friendly service, the food is nice and the views are incredible. The menu is basic but hearty, and it's quite expensive but so is everything near St Moritz, especially up in the mountains. It's cash only and self-service, which if you don't know in advance is perhaps what annoyed people. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
