Ristorante vietnamita in posizione tranquilla. Ottimo cibo, servizio sorridente, prezzi nella media di Zurigo.

Unfortunately, I can't give Pho Na a very good review. I went in to try the place for the first time since I like the cuisine, it was a cold day, and I had some hours to kill in the area. However, right from the get-go, I did not get a great feeling. The place was half-empty when I walked in (~6pm), and when telling the waitress I would be dining alone, she looked around at the empty tables and guided me to the worst one possible - a small table with a single chair, awkwardly placed halfway in walking hallway (and the only one placed so), facing straight into a recycling bin & the kitchen, and right next to the bathrooms. Note that while I understand trying to maximize occupancy, again, the place was half-empty and continued to be throughout my stay. There was also a bar with single stools by the street window, and several tables for 2 which could have easily been turned into singles. True enough, I could have asked for a change, but I shrugged it off as bad luck-of-the-draw and sat down. I then browsed the menu and ordered the "Pho Bo" with chicken - the dish advertised as a specialty and a "national dish". The bowl came promptly, but after taking a first bite, I was faced with a second wave of disappointment. The chicken felt a little chewy, as if overcooked or maybe cooked earlier in the day and just reheated in the broth. Moreover, the amount present in the bowl was not that abundant, and many pieces had dark spots and/or veins running through them, as if the cuts had not been cleaned or too carefully selected before cooking. I shrugged that off too - in for a penny, in for a pound - picked the little spots/veins out and dug into the bowl. Chicken-chewiness asides, the rice noodles were well done and broth tasted ok, but the greens and garnishes were also a little lacking for a 27 CHF meal. The bowl came with a little plate containing s quarter-wedge of lime, and some spicy sauces. I was also given a selection of spices & spicy sauces. The spoon in the chilly-flake oil flask had a crust of chilly-flakes built on its concave part which did not fall out despite stirring and smacking it around, which told me it had not been exchanged in some time, but their spiciness was still good. The atmosphere of the place was more practical than stylistic, and more modest than overdone. There were some elements to try give the place a Vietnamese flair, such as oriental ceiling lamps and paintings, but nothing really noteworthy. This was less of an issue for me since I went in for the food rather than a show, but Google Maps asks for an atmosphere assessment. Those were the main things that undermined the experience for me, but just to name a couple other miscellaneous details I noticed: If you are right-handed and happen to sit at the same table I did, you will likely bump your arm on the column that is by the table. Also, the staff seem to sometimes use the recycling bins as resting surfaces for things they would later put on the tables, such as the paper placements (see pictures attached).
