A visitor from France, I was around the neighborhood on a Friday at 11:15 AM and needed to go on a business call. So I ordered two drinks and a sandwich and sat at the terrace to take a call with my client -the owner indicating me a suitable table (for 2) at the extremity of the garden that I could use.
An hour into my call, an attendant tried to approach me despite my being on a video call. Half an hour later, she dropped me a note asking me to leave because she needed the table for lunch service. I then managed to move my call inside the restaurant so as to free up her table, despite no reservation or client showing up.
At 1:15 PM, after finishing my call, I went to see the owner to understand why I had been moved while there no being a full house in the garden and with a single man now sitting at my previous table -having a drink! She acted extremely rude to me, and I must say maybe even prejudiced, and essentially told me that I could have chosen another place if I weren’t happy. She then added that I stayed for 3 hours and only ordered for 8-9 euros -which was way besides the point for a place that serves 2-euro breakfast and also inaccurate. I had actually come in at 11:15 AM and left around 13:15 PM -I keep a very tight schedule as a consultant. Clearly, the owner seemed unhappy with having a foreign (black) professional sitting at her garden and taking a business call.
I found the customer experience very poor and the attitude quite questionable to say the least .
