@aDJinZurich Meets Matt & Elly 08.05.2026 Some dinners simply feed you. Others linger long after the last spoonful. Friday night in Basel led us to Matt & Elly ā a cosy neighbourhood spot we discovered through āEssen Gehn!ā, and what a find it turned out to be. We went all in with the 5-course surprise menu and honestlyā¦ every dish slapped. My standout was the lamb shank with peas & radish purĆ©e ā beautifully rich, deeply comforting, and so tender the meat practically fell apart at the slightest touch. My girlfriend was all about the saffron arancino with onion, broccoli & white beans. But the unanimous winner of the night? The gnocchi with maltake, celeriac & hazelnut. Light as air, packed with flavour, and somehow both delicate and deeply comforting at the same time. One of those dishes that makes the whole table go quiet after the first bite. Ending the evening with a strawberry dome, basil ice cream & elderflower syrup was just the perfect final note. Sweet, fresh, elegantā¦ yummy indeed. Neighbourhood restaurants like this are exactly why I love discovering new places. No fuss, just fantastic cooking and a memorable evening. A restaurant in Basel.
