Herzliche GrüßeHotel Central am See Weggis

Very disappointing experience, especially for families with children Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Hotel Central am See to families with children. During breakfast, a member of the dining room staff shouted aggressively at our 8-year-old daughter after she accidentally spilled some cereal. Instead of handling a small accident involving a child calmly and professionally, she raised her voice at her and then spoke rudely to us as well, even telling us that we needed to “educate our children.” Our daughter was extremely upset and shaken by the incident. What made the situation even worse was that there was no apology from the staff member, and we felt that the hotel management did not take proper responsibility for what happened. We had already paid for breakfast for the following morning, but after this experience our daughter did not want to return to the breakfast room, so we gave up the breakfast we had paid for. Despite explaining the situation, the hotel refused to offer us any compensation. We stayed one additional night only because changing hotels at that point was not practical, and we left first thing the following morning. More generally, we did not find this hotel suitable for families with children. Smoking was also common around the pool and in several other areas, which made the environment even less comfortable for us as a family. Hotels can have problems and accidents can happen. What matters is how they respond. A child accidentally spilling cereal should never result in an adult member of staff shouting at her, and we expected the hotel to handle such an incident with considerably more professionalism, empathy and responsibility. Based on our experience, we would not recommend this hotel to families with children.
