UPDATE: Director of the spa reached out to offer a complimentary one hour massage. It was truly amazing, what I really needed - deep tissue muscle restorative massage by Jade, who I wholeheartedly recommend! I called to book a massage, the Spa receptionist suggested I take a specific body massage offered by their Spa based on what I described (muscle pain, want to relax the muscle tension). When I came and saw the masseuse, she asked what area of my body I would want to focus on, and I pointed on my neck and shoulders. I received a massage that reminded me more lymphatic drainage than massage. When it just started, I asked to turn on the AC, and the masseuse didn’t do it, only after I asked again she turned it on. After that I was shy to say that the massage she is doing is not what I expected, because she already had started and she wasn’t as responsive to my first request - so I felt awkward. I think the problem with both the receptionist and masseuse was the language barrier, which I do not mind, but I feel like there wasn’t enough effort put in by both to try and really understand what I need or what I’m describing/asking. Everyone at the spa was nice, however I didn’t feel taken care of or that my needs are really being met, for the price I paid. I compare this to my experience at Fairmont hotel, which was frankly much better and smoother.
