The hotel was in the most amazing location for a winter walking experience. Accessibility to the hotel from the railway station via a bus was perfect. The hotel itself was very impressive. The staff were very attentive at all times. Amazing how they talk to us in English then turn and talk to other nationalities with so much ease. Amazing. The breakfasts in the morning were lovely and if you can experience their 4 course evening meals, then they will tantalise your tastebuds with a great range and variety of local produce for all courses. We were there for 7 days and I made a note (for my purposes only for fun) of all vegetable and plant ingredients that we were aware of over that period of time. I accounted for around 60!!! I had to google some of them as we didn’t recognise them. Just FANTASTIC!! Equipment to use free of charge ranged from skis, sledges, walking poles, snow shoes etc. perfect.. Service: 5

We stayed at Hotel Meisser at the end of February. Lovely traditional, but modernised, hotel with friendly and helpful staff. The village of Guarda is very pretty with its traditional houses often painted with murals. Although our room with balcony was beautifully furnished, we felt our stay was marred by the fact that Room 16, which is dual-aspect, has three large windows all along one side of the room but which have a very obstructed view. The view is of a solid grey steeply sloping roof of the adjacent building, with only about 20% of the top of the window showing a view of the sky. Apart from that, there is no view of anything else from those windows. This solid grey high roof faced the beds and was all we could see when we pulled the curtains in the morning. For anyone about to book, who is expecting uplifting views and a light-filled room, I suggest the adjacent Room 15 which also had a balcony but the large windows along the side all face the mountains and the beautiful valley and was also a much lighter room. My advice is to avoid room 16.
