Overall, our experience staying at Hotel La Scaletta al Ponte Vecchio for two nights in two rooms was terrible. The staff were rude and disorganized; they put us on two different floors, even though we booked the rooms at the same time. They decided which luggage belonged to whom, so we had to reshuffle our luggage. Getting to room 729 from ground floor, requires traversing a guess-work maze of stairs, and a very slow, moaning elevator by going to the third floor, and then taking the stairs down to the second floor. Escaping from your room in an emergency? Good luck and Gold help you. Our room 102 on the ground floor has ants and has no closet; the bidet is loose and the three-legged (Ikea-grade?) night-stand is unstable! The hallways are not air conditioned. There is NO common space for guests to hang out, read or relax. The so called roof top bar/restaurant is at best mediocre and at worst uninspiring. How in the world this hotel is rated anything above 2 star is beyond comprehension. We were misled by a google review of almost a five!! Cannot believe how that is possible. Finally, during our 12 day Italy visit, we really enjoyed staying at Hilton Garden Inn in Padua, and in NH Collection Hotel in Rome. Those were truly 4+ star hotels and we would highly recommend them.

Our hotel isn't a standard chain like Hilton or NH; we're located in a 15th-century building with unique features. There are several common areas within the hotel, including the internal garden overlooked by room 102, which you booked, and other lounges on various floors.We're sorry you didn't appreciate our panoramic terrace, which offers a unique view of the city.
