During a recent visit to Garden's Fish & Poke and Bubble Tea in Bari, I had the opportunity to try their version of poke, along with an excellent mango and Maracujá green tea bubble tea. While many aspects of the place wowed me, unfortunately I noticed one issue that affected my dining experience in a negative way: the quality of the tuna used in the poke. After appreciating the variety of the menu and the ability to customize your own dishes, I decided to opt for a tuna poke, one of my favorites with salmon as the protein. The base is white rice with edamame toppings, cherry tomatoes, sweet and sour cucumber, wakame gum with sesame topping and crispy onion with teriyaki sauce and yogurt sauce. However, at the first bite, I noticed a slightly unpleasant flavour, which I associated with less than fresh fish. The tuna seemed to lack the typical soft, juicy texture one expects from fresh, high-quality fish and the color was also not a more or less intense red. I am aware that, being a place specializing in raw fish, the freshness of the ingredients is a fundamental aspect that significantly influences the customer experience. I thought maybe it was a coincidence. I will return and would like to point out that the variety of options, friendly service and inviting atmosphere are definitely strong points worth maintaining.
