We had a wonderful experience at Filfl and chose the vegan dishes and a mixed salad as a starter. The rich eritrean dish was exquisite and the host such a nice welcoming person who even offered us his parking lot. Highly recommended! I think this is the best Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurant in town, for several reasons. First, the owner, Kafil, treats you like an old friend, offering some of the warmest, most heartfelt service you’ll find at any restaurant in Zurich. The food is consistently excellent and fresh, and the sampler lunch special he offers for 20 CHF is one of the best deals in town. It includes plenty of injera flatbread, which my gluten-free system handles very well, along with a variety of stews (wat) meant to be enjoyed with the bread. While everything is traditionally eaten by hand, utensils are happily provided if you prefer. The restaurant also offers a traditional Eritrean coffee ceremony, which is not to be missed if you’re visiting with a group. All in all, it’s a true haven, with a wonderfully neighborhood feel and a loyal mix of locals and regulars. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
