Do not eat here if you’re not Italian!!!!!! The food was good, and thankfully the young waitress who served us was absolutely lovely. She was friendly, polite and professional, and none of the following was her fault. She was the only person who made any effort to make us feel welcome. The owner, however, was a completely different story. From the moment we arrived, she repeatedly stared at us with obvious irritation. We’re around 26 years old, and it became very clear that she had already decided she didn’t want us there. Later, we overheard her speaking to her colleague and referring to us as “bambini” and saying that she didn’t like “bambini” eating at her restaurant. We understand Italian, so there was absolutely no confusion about what she was saying. When we confronted her about it while paying, you would expect at least some kind of apology or explanation. Instead, she simply told us: “I don’t like all people.” What an unbelievable thing to say to customers. I’ve worked in restaurants for most of my adult life, and I have never seen such a hostile and disrespectful attitude from someone running a restaurant. You don’t have to personally like every customer who walks through your door, but treating people as though they are beneath you simply because they are young — or because they aren’t Italian — is disgraceful. The waitress deserves much better than to work alongside someone who treats customers this way. The food may be good, but good food does not excuse blatant disrespect. Based on our experience, if you’re not Italian, I would strongly recommend spending your money somewhere you’re actually wanted. One of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had.
