Our family's visit to Florence was enhanced immeasurably by our discovery of Ristorante Pizzeria Da Franco, a family-run establishment that proved to be one of the dining highlights of our Italian journey. A Recommendation Worth Following. We found Da Franco through a recommendation from my son's friend, and I'm deeply grateful for that suggestion. In a city filled with dining options, having a trusted recommendation led us to what turned out to be an exceptional experience. Sometimes the best discoveries come from personal suggestions rather than tourist guides, and this was certainly the case here. Authentic Family-Run Excellence. What makes Da Franco special is immediately apparent: this is a genuine family-run restaurant where passion and tradition shine through in every aspect. There's an authenticity and care in family-operated establishments that's difficult to replicate, and Da Franco exemplifies this perfectly. The family's dedication to their craft is evident in the quality of every dish and the warmth of the service. Outstanding Food Quality. The cuisine at Da Franco represents some of the best local Italian food we experienced in Florence. We sampled their pizza and pasta dishes, and each was outstanding. The pizza had that perfect balance of crispy, flavourful crust with quality toppings, while the pasta was cooked to perfection with rich, authentic sauces. These weren't just good versions of Italian classics—they were exceptional examples of traditional Florentine cooking prepared with obvious skill and quality ingredients. The house wine deserves special mention. It was superb, offering excellent value while complementing the food beautifully. Having quality house wine available shows confidence in their offerings and a commitment to providing a complete dining experience. We were so impressed by our first meal that we made an immediate decision: we would return for our second night in Florence. When you're visiting a city with countless dining options, choosing to eat at the same restaurant twice is significant. We simply couldn't risk going anywhere else and potentially missing another brilliant meal. That instinct proved absolutely correct—our second visit was equally wonderful. The desserts were delicious as well, providing the perfect finish to both meals. Every course, from starters through to the final sweet bite, maintained the same high standard. Excellent Service and Atmosphere. The service throughout both visits was excellent. The staff were attentive and welcoming, creating an atmosphere where we felt genuinely cared for. The restaurant strikes that ideal balance—warm and friendly without being overly formal, professional without being distant. You feel like valued guests rather than just another table to serve.
