Food excellent, also impressed that menu items were listed in multiple languages. 4 - 5 stars Then there was the service 2 stars which became an issue because we wanted to share a meal (small appetite due to medical reasons). Transparency was poor in that we were not informed could not order 1 dish and 1 rice until meal arrived with 2 rice. Then told this was a required minimum. We accepted would be charged but asked to have returned to kitchen as would not eat it. Subsequently the waitress did only charge for 1 rice which was appreciated. The next issue occurred because I was told could not have tap water only mineral water. I did not question this more so arrived a bottle of water decanter style not a sealed individual bottle - was obviously a restaurant filled reusable water container. Unfortunately this water had an unpleasant odour. The bill arrived - NOT charged for the 2nd bowl of rice but charged 5 CHF for water. Paid bill and complimented the meal then informed waitress for her information the water was not nice. This caused great offence and defensive attitude. I was told I was wrong questioned where I was from? Relevance? Any way left feeling upset. Anyone coming from Adelaide in South Australia knows about smelly water - it is normal there and after being away for 2 months have enjoyed fresh European tap water which does not have an odour of tadpoles Meal type: Lunch Price per person: CHF 30–40 Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 4

Very good experience overall! We chose to have the menu option, which had a lot of food! Staff really really friendly. In terms of food, we weren’t impressed but it was solid. The duck was very good. The other plates were okay (for us personally there was little salt). For desserts was a little disappointing, I think it can be improved! China Garden in Zermatt was such a pleasant surprise. The food was comforting, flavourful, proper Chinese dishes done well, not overly oily and well-balanced in taste. Portions were generous, ingredients felt fresh, and everything came out hot and satisfying. If you’re craving good Chinese food in Zermatt, this is definitely a spot worth visiting! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
