If you really want to learn and experience something about Palermo, this little bar is the place for you. This bar is neither stylish nor otherwise "hip", but it offers a magnificent street theatre: because they all walk past here, the African women in their beautiful dresses with their heavy purchases balanced on their heads; the beautifully dressed Indian women, traditionally dressed Arabs; the Tunisians and Moroccans - and of course all the "normal", mostly so amiable Palermitani who were born and grew up here. No chic chic, just real people living real lives. No one here is rich or particularly wealthy. But they are all the more friendly and warm. People come here for coffee, beer and wine - and always to talk to each other. If language skills are not good enough, the mobile phone app is used to pay a compliment or ask a question. It's a big family, a bit Fellini-like, because of the unique types and characters. Places like this are Palermo. Not the tourist fast food & party miles. Pic: Fantastic selfmade meatballs.
