Avendo provato le schiacciate all’antico vinaio di Firenze sono rimasto molto deluso sia per la qualità che per la quantità. Le schiacciate mangiate a Torino valgono la metà del prezzo che ho pagato.

I think All'Antico Vinaio needs no introduction. The main product is a fantastic flatbread filled with cured meats and other regional and seasonal ingredients. In Turin it is located in the center next to Palazzo Nuovo, home of the University of Humanities. Once you arrive you almost always find a long queue which makes it clear that you won't be disappointed. However, the wait is never too long. The place has a huge counter displaying all the ingredients that are used and a fair number of tables both inside and outside. An important thing to remember is that you can only sit down after picking up your order to ensure a quick seat for those who need to eat. Once you have entered and your turn has arrived, you can order one of the Schiacciata on the menu directly at the counter and then go and pay while it is being prepared. You can choose from around thirty flatbreads filled with the most varied ingredients. As a base there is the fantastic hot focaccia which I find fantastic even on its own. As the main ingredient there is a cured meat among the many of the Italian tradition (sbriciolona, porchetta, salami, pancetta, etc.) or a cheese for the vegetarian versions (gorgonzola, stracchino, stracciatella). To complete an excellent choice of creams, sauces, vegetables and grains. If you are not satisfied with the classic proposals, you can personally choose the ingredients to put inside the focaccia. Depending on the season or period, special flatbreads and local products are offered (Bra sausage, tome, etc.). Prices range from around 7 to 11 euros, but for the size and filling of the Schiacciata it is absolutely worth it, trust me. To drink you can choose between water, beers, various drinks and a selection of wines. The staff is nice and kind, good guys. Personally, I never miss the opportunity to drop by Antico Vinaio when I'm in the area and want to have a quick and satisfying lunch or dinner. I really love these flatbreads so much that last time I actually ate two of them. For me, absolutely worth trying at least once.
