I am writing about what happened at the café called 4 canti caffé, Spitz bar (Via Vittorio Emanuele, 315, 90134 Palermo PA, Italy). As a Hungarian tourist, I sat down with my wife on February 11, at around 7:00 p.m., at the small table in front of 4 canti caffé. My wife ordered a limoncello drink. I would have liked to have an ice cream, but it was not available here. I ran to a nearby ice cream parlour, then came back and sat down to our table with an ice cream. This all happened during the evening, and there were no other guests in the café. When the seller came out, who is probably also the owner, I smiled and raised the ice cream, saying “sorry,” trusting that he would overlook this small matter and tolerate those few minutes while my wife finished her drink. In response, the gentleman arrogantly (!) made it clear to me that this was unacceptable and that I should leave. So he would have considered it acceptable that while my wife was drinking her limoncello, I, with grey hair (I am 70 years old), should stand 5 meters away to eat my ice cream. I understand that consuming sweets from another shop is forbidden, but the waiter’s pitifully inflexible, petty behavior was unjustified and outrageous. He behaved so aggressively that we immediately stood up, then poured the limoncello into a plastic cup, paid, and left. Based on your replies to other complaints, I already know what you will write, and possibly what false statements you will try to use to justify what happened, but there is no acceptable explanation for your humiliating and disrespectful behavior. I am sorry to read this feedback and I'm actually surprised that yourself knew that it wasn't possible to do that but you did anyway and aspected us to let you. I surely wasn't arrogant and just told you that it wasn't possible to eat your gelato on our table, as you knew and wrote yourself in the feedback. We surely don't want to be sanctioned and risk anything so I believe you will understand why I told you that it wasn't possible to eat your gelato in our place. It is unfair to us and our work . You could also ask in advance, you didn't , just forced us on that situation. It's the same if you go in a restaurant and bring from home your own beverage, this is for sure a bit rude and prohibited in Italy with our current legislation. Since there are many places nearby that serves both ice cream and limoncello, you could just sit there and go elsewhere. Also the fact you mentioned I was arrogant, evil and that I booted you from my place is false, and you know that. I'm sorry you kept the grudge for so long. I hope at least the limoncello was good since is the only thing I served you. Wish you a wonderful day. Cheers
