I used to go to Walz all of the time, and liked the large windows and bright environment. I was shocked, though, the last time I was there, that two waitresses each tried to overcharge me. The first one, I ordered tap water (to go with a variety of food and coffee I ordered), and she delivered fizzy water from a bottle. The second waitress, after I ordered two egg dishes labeled on the menu as CHF 5.50 each, charged me over CHF 7.50 each. Overall, the final bill came in at about CHF 33, vs. the CHF 22-25 I was expecting. I challenged her on both overcharges, and she did correct them. But never apologized or noted any remorse for their obviously trying to con me. This was very surprising for Switzerland, in general, where I have lived for a long time. My German is not 100%, but it is OK, and they may have surmised that I was a tourist, and that, especially, makes it reprehensible given that tourists are sometimes disoriented and vulnerable and the last people they should be trying to con. Shocking and disappointing. I will never go there again—they lost a lot of business since I am moving to the area and had previously planned to dine there often, including with friends, family and co-workers. Gehen hier öfters hin für Frühstcks- oder Mittagspause, das Essen ist gut und die Bedienung auch.
