We had a lovely and cozy dinner at V Starem Melinu in Zagreb. The restaurant has a really warm, rustic atmosphere ā wooden furniture, checkered tablecloths, and a homely feel that makes you instantly comfortable. It feels a bit like eating in a countryside cottage. The food was hearty and very traditional. We started with a mushroom soup that was simple but flavorful,definitely homemade and comforting. For mains, we tried a fried meat roll with a creamy sauce and a chicken dish with thin-dried flatbread. Both portions were generous, and everything tasted like proper, honest home cooking. The fried roll was crispy on the outside and juicy inside. We also shared a fresh tomato and feta salad, which balanced things out nicely. The presentation isnāt fancy, but thatās part of the charm ā itās straightforward, satisfying, and unpretentious. The service was friendly and relaxed. Our server made us feel welcome and let us take our time enjoying the meal. Prices were fair for the quality and portion sizes. Overall, V Starem Mlinu is a great spot if youāre looking for a cozy place with authentic, home style Croatian food nothing over the top, just good, comforting dishes in a warm atmosphere.
