This place was recommended to us by the owner of the apartment we were renting, so we made dinner reservations and what an adventure it was! First, it's up in the hills and since we didn't have a car, the restaurant sent a van for us (and two other couples) then drove us up the most twisty-turny road to the restaurant. My husband had read that they serve wild boar there, so his excitement level was a 10. I don't think it was as good as he'd hoped, but at least he wasn't eating the world's driest hen, which is what I was doing... we did have an excellent bottle of wine and a cheese sampler though. I'm torn, I definitely didn't love this place, but for some reason I wouldn't NOT recommend it.

Our recommendation, and subsequent reservation, came from the owner's granddaughter from whom we rented a villa while in Bellagio. For those who like winding driving experiences there's ample parking once you arrive; however, for those who prefer a "safer" option, the restaurant provides a van for dinner at 7 p.m. Call ahead to reserve a ride. Spectacular views (bring a cover since it can get chilly), congenial Italian service, and local meats make this a "must go-n-see" visit. Being greeted by cows grazing on the hilly pasture is sublime. We ordered venison, rabbit, boiled hen, sausage with polenta, and pasta bolognese with a venison ragu. Other than the hen which was served cold (maybe that's the intention?), everything was savory, cooked perfectly, and richly sauced. In the mood for a daring trip up the mountain for some wonderful dining? I say, "Give 'em a whirl" and decide for yourself. Go here.

Tricky to find but so worth it we returned (and got lost again on the second try as well.) The views are outrageous and the food is just wonderful. They specialize in wild game (boar, venison, rabbit) in unpretentious and yummy preparations. Even the kids will find something to love, they offered half portions of Pizzachietti (?) which is a local dish of homemade buckwheat noodles, potatoes, cheese garlic and cabbage that my 9-year-old daughter thinks is a piece of heaven. My kids also went crazy for the fresh milk, which came from the cows they could see on the hill by the parking lot. For dessert fresh wild-picked berries or the "cooked milk" which turned out to be a fluffy flan. The service is extremely friendly. They do ask that you make reservations, though both times we went (for lunch, not sure if I would want to drive those roads at night) we got a table. And the prices are extremely reasonable. A perfect lunch spot after a morning on the ropes and zip lines at Jungle Raider Park.
