Been living in Richterswil for several years now and the Badi is great. The location of the restaurant is fantastic and the interior is perfect — 5 stars for location and atmosphere. So far so good. The food, however, I can only rate a 2. The restaurant is part of the Peclard chain, so you get the same base quality as their other locations. (CHF 44 for a Schnitzel without fries, a burger made of invasive crab, etc.) I had similarly disappointing experiences recently at LO in Horgen and Fischers Fritz in Kilchberg (May/June 2026). All of these restaurants need to seriously elevate their food offering. This isn’t 1998, nor is it a mountain hut in the middle of nowhere. Yet they continue to serve well below-average food at premium prices. The menu in 2026 is exactly the same as in 2022 — even the menu boards haven’t changed. The only thing I regularly eat is the (undersized) beef tartare, not because it’s great but because it’s the least bad option on the menu. All the deep-fried items have a hard, mass-produced crust. The crab burger is uninspiring, and when mixed with the fries it develops a slight unpleasant (urin-like) taste. The schnitzel is tasty but insanely priced. The sushi with local fish is okay, but on warm days with slower service it often arrives slightly too warm, which makes it taste unpleasantly sweet. Our kids love the truffle fries, but CHF 12 for a small bowl (always an extra) is very overpriced. The staff is young and some have been there for a few years, but the overall feeling is somewhat unprofessional, with frequent slow service — something I’ve also experienced recently at both LO and Fischers Fritz. People still come because of the unbeatable location and atmosphere right by the Badi, where the kids can play literally next to the restaurant. That part is wonderful. However, after speaking with many locals, my feedback is shared by at least 15 families who regularly visit the Badi. The customers and the people of Richterswil deserve a restaurant that serves honest, good-quality food and genuinely wants to deliver a great experience — not this lazy, overpriced offering. Something needs to change I’m happy to be contacted by the restaurant so we can even put together a small focus group and help make this a truly great place.
