Finding authentic South Asian flavors while traveling can be a challenge, but Royal India in Zagreb absolutely nailed it. Since it was my first time visiting, I was not entirely sure what to expect from an Indian restaurant in the heart of Croatia, but the experience exceeded all expectations. Right from the start, knowing that the restaurant is fully halal gave me complete peace of mind, allowing me to dive straight into the menu without any hesitation. The staff was incredibly welcoming and guided me through the options with genuine hospitality, creating an atmosphere that felt instantly comfortable and warm. The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the food. I ordered the tandoori chicken to start, and it was exceptional. It arrived perfectly charred on the outside while remaining incredibly juicy and tender on the inside, packed with a rich blend of traditional spices that hit all the right notes. For the main course, I went with the kadahi murgh, and it was a masterpiece. The thick, savory gravy had the perfect balance of tomatoes, bell peppers, and freshly ground spices. It had that distinct, authentic ginger and garlic punch that defines a great kadahi dish, pairing wonderfully with fresh, warm naan to soak up every last drop of the sauce. The balance of flavors proved that the kitchen does not compromise on authenticity for the local palate, maintaining the bold, vibrant essence of traditional cooking. The portions were generous, the presentation was beautiful, and the service was prompt without feeling rushed. It is rare to find a place that balances great ambiance, strict halal assurance, and top tier culinary execution so flawlessly. Royal India is a absolute gem in Zagreb for anyone craving comforting, deeply flavorful, and genuinely authentic Indian food. I am already looking forward to my next visit.
