To forget...... There were 10 of us, Saturday evening after a day dedicated to beauty and culture in Reggio Calabria. On the return journey to Puglia, to Lecce, we planned a stop in Gioiosa marina. after a small dip in the sea we asked the locals what was a good restaurant with typical and/or seafood cuisine. Without batting an eye the only name we hear is Ristorante da Giorgio. To tell the truth, it was a makeshift from the start, as other places whose reviews were excellent were all full, as it was now 8pm on a Saturday evening. Empty place, luxurious, chic, elegant......but empty! First clue that I underestimated. We took a plate of mussels, not fresh or frozen, old and dried, horrible spaghetti with clams, it looked like boiled pasta with defrosted clams and cold ones thrown there before serving them.....horrible! A mixed fry, called di paranza, which a street food stall would have been able to present better. A disappointment on all fronts.....even the penne with sauce for our three children was praised as a sublime thing to make the most sophisticated of infants lick their chops.....the MC Donald would have been a gourmet at comparison. To close with the sorbet....for children only, given the previous experience, described as homemade by them with organic lemons........the liuk seems like it was made by my grandmother in comparison! All for a total of €175....regardable price as we were sent by acquaintances of Mr. George. I would never go back there again.....never again trust the advice of local people, even if they are elderly!
