Our visit to Konoba Tauris was a wonderful experience, and we highly recommend it without any hesitation. Dinner started with a nice presentation of the daily catch, together with recommendations on how to prepare the different options. We opted for a Gregada (Croatian fish stew) made from Škarpina (red scorpionfish), and it was divine. We had tried it elsewhere before, but Tauris’ version is a hundred times better and not to be missed. It was a special recommendation from our waiter, and he was absolutely right. Of course, you would also do very well with grilled fish, but the Gregada was especially good and a nice change, since you can get grilled fish more easily elsewhere in Croatia. The meal came with a fantastic salad and bread as starters, which kept us “busy” until the Gregada arrived. Of course with their own olive oil from the island. We also had a fantastic wine to go with our courses, as well as two very nice desserts. What made the evening even better was the quality of the service. It was highly professional but at the same time down-to-earth and relaxed as well. This made you feel as if you were dining at home with (very helpful) friends. The whole team was just that: a team — and you could tell that they enjoyed working with each other. Last but not least: the location itself. While not directly on the sea, it is set in a beautiful park-like garden setting which — again — made it feel more special and different from so many other places. To summarize: the food, drinks, service, and location were all outstanding and earn our highest recommendation. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €50+
