Siamo stati per pranzo sabato scorso al ristorante opale, ristorante della fondazione opale a Lens. La giornata è stata splendida a partire dal sole che ci ha accompagnato per tutto il pranzo sulla terrazza con la magnifica vista lago.. Un quadro perfetto, locale molto accogliente così come lo staff. Molto gentile e puntuale.. servizio impeccabile e cucina davvero ottima, piatti fatti con cura e impiantati a regola d'arte.. sapori molto decisi con molte combinazioni di colori, lo chef Lorenzo e Dalmau, suo sous chef sono davvero bravi nella continua ricerca della perfezione. Posto accogliente elegante. Perfetto anche per aperitivo in terrazzo vista laghetto. Da provare il loro Spritz con passion fruit immancabile. Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

I visited Restaurant L'Opale recently and, while the kitchen displays undeniable talent, the overall experience was deeply marred by unprofessional management and what felt like intentionally dishonest billing practices. Our visit began on a strange note: we had called to make a reservation, but they didn't even bother to take our name. Upon arrival, the restaurant was empty, yet the service was far from attentive. We were seated on the terrace, where our privacy was immediately compromised by a drone filming promotional content. While the operator eventually asked if we were okay with it, we felt completely trapped into saying "yes"—our food was already on the table and we were in a hurry. The restaurant management didn't once check on our comfort or apologize for the constant noise and intrusion. It was clear that their marketing content was far more important to them than the privacy or peace of their paying guests. The most upsetting part of the meal, however, was the service and the subsequent bill. I specifically ordered a small portion of a main dish, pointing directly at the menu to ensure there was no misunderstanding. The waitress looked at me and explicitly confirmed: "The small one, okay." Despite this, a glass of rosé wine I ordered never arrived, yet they were very "efficient" at charging me for the large portion of the food instead of the small one I requested. When the plate arrived, it looked generous, and I remember thinking, "I’m glad I ordered the small one." As a first-time guest, I have no way of knowing a restaurant’s specific plating standards, so I logically trusted the staff to bring exactly what I had ordered. When I pointed out the €10 overcharge on the bill, the waitress's reaction was incredibly cold and dismissive. Instead of acknowledging the mistake or the verbal confirmation she had given me earlier, she simply insisted that I had ordered the large portion. Her only response was an empty "sorry," delivered with an attitude that implied the error was my problem to deal with, rather than theirs to fix. Her behavior felt rehearsed and cynical, as if she were used to using this tactic with tourists, counting on the fact that they might be in a hurry or too uncomfortable to escalate the situation. I eventually paid and left just to avoid further conflict, which seemed to be exactly what she wanted. It is a genuine shame because the presentation of the food was beautiful and the flavors were correct. The chefs are doing excellent work, but it is completely overshadowed by a front-of-house team that treats customers as "easy targets" for extra profit rather than guests. I left feeling scammed and disrespected. I cannot recommend a place that lacks this much professional integrity. If you decide to go, I strongly advise you to double-check every single item on your bill. Meal type: Lunch Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
