If I could give a negative review I would! Staff were absolutely, atrociously rude. There are no signs at all to get into the restaurant. So my husband and I walked up to the doorway instead of the just waiting on the edge of the sidewalk near the road about to get hit by a car. And they shooed us away saying we “need to go to the other entrance” so we went to the other entrance and the blonde man who was our server told us to wait by the sidewalk. So we did. He waved a motion and called us over so we proceeded to follow him after “he waved and said follow me”. So we did and he screamed “GOD I TOLD YOU THREE TIMES TO WAIT OUTSIDE”. I am from New York. Home of the rude, aggressive people. And I have never been spoken to like that. I also went to school for hospitality and restaurant management. And learned to never ever act like that to a guest. So then the food came. Covered in bugs and absolutely no seasoning. Their side vegetables were one broccoli floret and one cauliflower floret. With no seasoning. The potatoes were horrible with no seasoning. I have been staying in Interlaken for a few days and I have had potatoes from other places and they were out of this world. The potatoes at restaurant Bären were so pathetic it’s sad. There was no seasoning and no onion. All in all, if you want to be treated horrible, eat non seasoned food and pay a lot of money, come here!! The fit is for you! But if you know decent cuisine, do not come here. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: CHF 100+ Vegetarian options: This place is absolutely disgusting. They’ll probably be rude to you because you are vegetarian. Dietary restrictions: This place is absolutely disgusting. They’ll probably will be rude to you if you have a food allergy. Parking space: Difficult to find parking Parking options: Parking is unavailable Parking: Food is absolutely atrocious Kid-friendliness: Do not bring your kids here if you want them to turn into unsuccessful adults. Wheelchair accessibility: They would probably be rude to you if you had a wheelchair.

Dear LeahFirst of all, we would like to sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience you had with us — such a welcome should never happen, and we fully understand your frustration. Please allow us to briefly address a few points from our side:As mentioned, the way you were welcomed is absolutely unacceptable. We have looked into the matter and taken appropriate measures internally.Regarding the insects you mentioned: they were flies. You are right — we are currently experiencing an unusual number of them, likely due to the weather. When the restaurant is closed, there are no flies. However, once we open, start serving food, and keep the windows and doors open, unfortunately, they find their way inside. In your photo, we can see that your plate included broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and spinach. You also ordered Rösti as a side dish. Please note that our side Rösti is served plain — it does not contain onions or any other ingredients. A traditional Rösti consists only of potatoes, butter, and a little salt. We intentionally use minimal salt, as we also have guests who prefer their food less seasoned. Salt and pepper are provided on every table so that each guest can season their meal to their own taste. When your food was served, we checked in with you a few minutes later to see if everything was to your satisfaction. Your partner responded politely and confirmed that everything was fine. For any restaurant, it is very helpful if concerns are addressed directly on-site so that we can react immediately and find a suitable solution.Regarding your other remarks: our menu does indicate gluten-free options, and we have always been able to accommodate guests with allergies. We also have guest parking spaces available behind the restaurant. It’s unfortunate you weren’t aware of this — we would have been happy to assist you if asked. While our restaurant is not officially wheelchair accessible, we do regularly welcome guests in wheelchairs. We are also very child-friendly and always strive to provide warm, welcoming service to all our guests.Once again, we sincerely apologize for the negative experience you had with us and wish you all the best.Kind regards
