Restaurant Krone is the kind of spot that feels like a warm embrace from Swiss hospitality—elegant yet unpretentious, with a modern twist on classic flavors that had us hooked from the first bite. We opted for their exquisite 3-course dinner, and oh boy, what a decision that was. This place isn’t just a meal; it’s an event, blending seasonal ingredients with impeccable technique in a cozy, welcoming space that hums with quiet energy. We kicked things off with the pumpkin and figs starter, and it was pure poetry on a plate. The roasted pumpkin brought that earthy sweetness, perfectly balanced by the juicy, caramelized figs that popped with subtle tartness—think autumn harvest meets Mediterranean sunshine. It was light yet indulgent, setting the tone for the magic to come. Then, the main event: the Hirsch back and cheek. Absolutely fantastic doesn’t even cover it—this was game elevated to art. The venison back was tender and rosy, seared to lock in those rich, wild flavors, while the cheek melted like butter, slow-braised to perfection with a glossy jus that whispered hints of red wine and forest herbs. Paired with seasonal sides (we had silky potato purée and vibrant root veggies), it was hearty without heaviness, a true showcase of Krone’s commitment to fresh, high-quality sourcing. Every forkful felt like a celebration of Swiss terroir. For dessert, we dove into the maroni chestnut chocolate mousse with yoghurt, and it was the cherry (or should I say mousse?) on top. Velvety chocolate married with the nutty warmth of chestnuts for that cozy depth, then cut beautifully by the cool, tangy yoghurt swirl—decadent, refreshing, and not a hint of overly sweet. We savored every spoonful, already dreaming of the next indulgence. The service? Spot-on—attentive without hovering. Prices reflect the quality (around CHF 100 per person for the full shebang), but it’s worth every cent for a night that lingers. If you’re in Sissach or nearby, skip the ordinary and let Krone surprise you. We for sure will return for more….
