Plateforme 10 seems to be one of Lausanne’s leading cultural destinations. Built on a former railway site, the complex is impressively large and brings several museums together in one place. Admission was free with the Swiss Travel Pass. When I visited, there was an exhibition on Isao Takahata, the renowned director of Heidi, Girl of the Alps, which was a delightful surprise. I was also deeply impressed by the photographs of Iranian artists—works I rarely have the opportunity to encounter. The question “Why Don’t You Dance?” has stayed with me ever since, inviting reflection long after the visit.

Very immersive experience: you don’t even need to visit Plateforme 10 to attend their events, because they’ll happily broadcast them directly through your walls. Zero consideration for the people living nearby. And if you do actually visit in summer, the almost entirely mineral esplanade ensures you can experience the urban heat-island effect firsthand. Truly immersive cultural programming: boiling if you’re there, deafening if you’re not. Who do we write to have the programmer fired please?

Very unwelcoming, overly fancy restaurant, no obvious way in, too expensive, didn’t bother as I wasn’t that fussed by what they were exhibiting.
