L’ambiente è raccolto e familiare. La titolare, con passione e competenza, guida gli ospiti in un viaggio culinario fatto di bigoli all’anitra, baccalà in tre varianti e polenta fumante. Servizio attento e amichevole. Le porzioni sono ben curate. Prezzi onesti per una cucina genuina. Da provare assolutamente lo scopettone (salacca) un sapore perduto. Prenotare è d'obbligo, lo spazio è limitato. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: €30–40

Brief review for those who just want the summary of the matter: they are rude, go ahead, there are alternatives where customers are welcomed with respect in the city of Vicenza, but certainly not at the Osteria Vicolo Santa Barbara. Short summary in English, very rude owner, he thought I couldn't understand his dialect so he insulted me. I am from the area so, I well understood what he was saying, and could answer. Can't even imagine what he could say to foreigners. Going back to the story: When I went in to ask if they had room for 5 people, I was told by a rude person in his manner and appearance that the place was full. In fact, I was told, there are two boys waiting outside. So, inspired by the two boys, I had the unfortunate idea of asking how long we would have to wait. The answer was a curt: "What is it that you don't understand?" To which I replied: "Nothing, I'm leaving, obviously she doesn't like earning" At this point, probably confused by the camera hanging around my neck, my rude interlocutor started commenting in Vicenza dialect about the fact that I didn't understand anything and that I had annoyed him with my questions. Unfortunately for him, I am from Verona, and therefore I understood what he said. I replied to him in Veronese and left, advising other people who were outside the place not to enter because it was run by rude people. I walked away, but then I thought I should share this experience, to prevent other people from being treated in the rough ways with which I was treated, and I took a photo of the sign so as not to forget the name of the place. At this point the manager saw me and started ranting saying that I had to: 1) Go to "explicit Venetian language" 2) go to "explicit language" I pointed out to him that he was making a poor impression on his customers. Angry and bitter, I left. I know that now you, my rude interlocutor, will say that I am a keyboard lion, an expression that you probably use without realizing the tragic irony of the fact that you are not able to update yourself and do not know how to deal with the change in your Vicenza, in which now also includes people from exotic Verona. I hope that your business always goes well, but if in the future you find yourself in difficulty, try to work on your ways and you will see that with kindness and a smile you will find new customers. Last kindness from the managers: they advised me to call the mental health department in their first response to my review, kindly also providing the number, for which I thank them, because if I had had a doubt about what happened, I am now safer to what part the reason lies.
