The Bisnona restaurant in Contone was recommended to me by my son as excellent and so I suggested a visit to some gourmet friends. I must say that I was surprised both by the high quality of the dishes offered and by the kindness of the managers: Kira Ghidoni in the kitchen and her partner in the dining room. Coming to the dishes consumed: starting with a salad (abundant) of seasonal leaves, very varied, tasty and also presented with an aesthetic touch that invites you to enhance the flavours. As a main dish we relied (at least I did) on the waiter's advice: a risotto with spinach, kale and veal sweetbreads with flakes of roasted flat bacon. Sublime! Finally a scoop of homemade honey ice cream, also presented with aesthetic originality. In short, this experience shows the great professionalism of the cook, accompanied by a surprising search to satisfy not only the taste buds, but also the sight and smell. The great school of one of the best restaurants in the world (the Mosimann'Club in London) shines through. For a gourmet, an experience worth having in any case! I forgot: the wine list is up to par. Our evening at Osteria Bisnona stood out amongst many meals we had during our 2024 travels in Switzerland. The relaxing but refined ambience; the focus on local and seasonal foods, delightfully prepared and presented; and the quality of both the food and the service, made for an evening to remember. We could see and taste the care and thought that went into each dish - for us: the Bisnona salad, onglet of beef with courgette, tagliatelle with venison, and a delicious elderflower-based dessert. Local beer and wine recommendations were also on point. Well worth the drive away from city centre or lake front! Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: CHF 80–90 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Dietary restrictions: Coeliac-friendly with delicious house-made gluten free bread.
