After seeing videos about Oaza Jelinjak on TikTok, I booked it as a birthday surprise for my boyfriend. We are big foodies and regularly dine at expensive restaurants, so the higher prices were never an issue for us. We arrived a little early and were asked to come back at 5 PM, which was completely fine, although the attitude could have been friendlier. Once seated, we ordered a bruschetta, a seasonal salad, and two gemišt as a starter. To our surprise, the bartender, who I assume is also the owner, lectured us about our order and suggested that guests should spend at least €20 per person on food. It made us feel quite uncomfortable and unwelcome. Unfortunately, the food was just as disappointing. The “seasonal salad” was essentially a sliced tomato, and the bruschetta was simply bread with tomato. The food menu is extremely limited—basically olives, bruschetta, salad, and a prosciutto-and-cheese platter. When the server asked why I didn’t want the platter and I explained that I am vegetarian, there was no effort to suggest an alternative or accommodate my dietary preference. The view is beautiful, but unfortunately the food and service did not live up to the setting. We would have happily spent more money if the experience had been welcoming and the menu offered something worth ordering. As a side note, we left still hungry and went to Konoba Ferma, where we had an amazing experience. The food was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the view was absolutely breathtaking. The contrast between the two experiences could not have been greater. Sadly, we won’t be returning to Oaza Jelinjak. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
