We had dinner at Miyabi Sushi. The welcome was warm and attentive from the service staff. We ordered Uramaki and Tamanegi Aburi for starter and Teppanyaki with beef fillet as maincourse. The staff asked us whether we would like plain or fried rice with the meat so we have chosen fried rice. The quality and freshness of the food was overall very good as well as the preparation and presentation. For dessert, we shared matcha ice cream. So why 4 out of 5 stars for food: There was way too much japanese mayonnaise on the Tamanegi Aburi, it was kind of "drowned" in it. The mayonnaise should be definitively used more decent as it completely covered the smoked smell of the seared fish. Also, the taste of the teppanyaki dipping sauce should be slightly improved in terms of saltiness as there is already extra salt provided on the side of the meat. Why 4 out of 5 stars for the service. The staff is friendly and attentive but should have noted on the selection between plain and fried rice that there will be an extra cost for the fried rice. This was not obvious as the Teppanyaki course stated that there is rice included. Why 4 out of 5 stars for the atmosphere. We were seated at the counter bar which is kind of usual for Teppanyaki restaurants, but it was a little akward that the Teppanyaki chef is not facing the customers while preparing the food but rather standing against the wall. This is due to the layout of the kitchen so not the fault of the chef. Also, the steamer for the gyozas is just next to the teppanyaki grill, when opened the steam is flowing up to the customers on the right side of the counter where we were sitting. We would recommend to move the steamer to the kitchen behind and if the layout does not allow the chef to prepare the food facing the customers, there is no added value to have an open kitchen and a glass window should be considered. Also, we noticed due to the space constraints that the staff that restocked the clean plates had to pass between the two chefs to the other side of the wall each time which is not efficient, so the shelfes should probably be moved to the other side. By improving this points slightly we would rate 5 of 5 in all categories. Another small detail but would be very nice if you provide Hashioki (chopstick stands) so that chopsticks can be put properly while enjoying the different courses.
