The food, service, and atmosphere were excellent while we were at the restaurant, and we truly enjoyed the experience. However, I can only give four stars due to an unpleasant edge. Several weeks before our reservation, we exchanged emails specifically discussing gluten-free alternatives, as I am celiac, and even pre-ordered the six-course menu. To my disappointment, when we arrived and were seated, I was informed that I would only be receiving five courses because a gluten-free option for one of the dishes had not been prepared. Given the advance notice and confirmation, this was frustrating and took away from what would have otherwise been a flawless evening. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

We had the pleasure of experiencing a truly special fine dining evening at Restaurant Mangrt, prepared with passion by the young chef Tomaž and his wife. Located in a quiet village, the restaurant is only open on select days and reservations are a must. From the outside, the place doesn’t look like much, it’s an older building that doesn’t give away what’s hidden within. But once inside, we were welcomed into a warm interior that felt like an old family home. We chose the 6-course tasting menu, which was preceded by several free surprises from the kitchen. The entire experience lasted a full two hours, during which each course was plated beautifully and served with care. While the portions were small, the focus was clearly on local ingredients and refined flavors, from homemade bread and pasta to cheese, wild asparagus, sausage, trout, and even mouflon. Every bite was thoughtfully composed and incredibly balanced. We paired our food with an excellent selection of local wines. The service was absolutely professional, friendly, and well-informed. We had the chance to speak with Chef Tomaž and personally thank him for the incredible food and the effort he pours into this family-run project. This might be one of the finest culinary journeys we’ve had. Highly recommended to anyone seeking an authentic dining experience. Price per person: €50+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
