In total disagreement with the previous reviewers who gave 4 or 5 stars, this time I feel forced to review negatively (which is very rare for me: those who read my previous reviews can see that in the vast majority of cases they are positive). The reason is simple: the disproportionately high prices in relation to the quality-price ratio of this absolutely ordinary place, even as a location, but with great and perhaps frankly excessive demands. It's not that I ate really badly, but rather in a completely mediocre way, that is, no better than any ordinary trattoria in the area chosen at random, with also some negative notes to make regarding specific dishes that I didn't like at all. The house specialty is homemade umbricelli (a long, simple, extremely cheap pasta, made only with water and flour, a typical dish of the traditional "poor and humble" Umbrian peasant cuisine), already humble, but it's a shame that this dish " poor" you pay on average 15-18 euros each (with variations up to 20 euros and more!!!!). I say it as an Umbrian: the value of this dish cannot match the prices asked for in this place. In this case we could say that the cuisine is "poor" as it makes the customer so when paying the bill! If you then agree to taste a "tris", i.e. variations with various types of sauce (norcina, ignorante, sagrantino, etc.) the prices rise significantly because each trio in the end costs almost the same as 3 single dishes! Evidently these gentlemen have a somewhat original way of counting the dishes.....Do the right calculations though. The top dish of the restaurant, which also gives it its name, are these umbricelli made "in earthenware" seasoned with a sauce based on sagrantino and various spices which are passed over the flame in an empty half wheel of parmesan and then served in a pan : a very spectacular maneuver whose outcome, however, does not correspond to the expectations that this attitude, or rather I would say such "preening" would reveal: personally I did not like this sauce at all because it is too spicy, sweetish, with excessive quantities of nutmeg , cinnamon and cloves (and so on and so forth) and with the Sagrantino too present and not well blended and therefore with an annoying residual alcoholic component. The umbricelli therefore remained on the plate. Moral of the story: 4 of us (2 adults and 2 children) spent around 170 euros on food: -Three variations of Umbricelli (but, be careful, in terms of quantity we essentially ate a first course each which however we overpaid as if we had eaten 2 or 3 each due to the strange counting mentioned above!!!); -4 sausages in number (the level of which was no higher than those that can be purchased in any supermarket) with 1 plate of sautéed herbs (these are good); - 1 completely normal lamb coratella, not more than what can be eaten for 5 euros at any village festival; - Water and wine (1 liter in bulk, given that the bottles had prices with mark-ups bordering on decency... considering that you are not in Paris or Venice); - 2 sweets for the children; - 1 undrinkable spirit for myself, over which I can only draw a pitiful veil. For almost 45 euros each we therefore took: a first course, a sausage, and a spoonful of coratella and a forkful of cooked grass, plus the micro sweets that the children left on the plate (something that has never happened before in human memory). Personally therefore I will not go back there again. Well, if I can give one last piece of advice to those who have had the patience to read this review I would say to stay away, also because a few kilometers away there are better places (e.g. in Sant'Arcangelo) where you can eat better while spending less , but much less than half.
