I hate doing this, because I wanted to love Lucin Kantun. I get the concept—the food is supposed to be elevated, upscale, creative, and it absolutely has moments of that. But the menu feels scattered, like it’s reaching for something without quite knowing where it wants to land. The food needs more direction, body, flavor, and honestly… soul. The mussels were cool, but needed another hit of flavor. The spinach pesto rolls were underdone and, I’m sorry, gave me the energy of something I microwaved from Costco at 8 years old- The soup felt like a watered-down version of what could have been something really special. And that’s the frustrating part: you can see the idea of awesome dishes here. There are ingredients, technique, and ambition, but the execution doesn’t consistently bring them together. It reminded me of an eighth grader who has a bunch of really great ideas for a project but tries to put ALL of them into one presentation. There’s talent there—you just need someone to say, “Okay let’s refine these things.” I wanted more cohesion, more depth, and more of that Croatian soul that clearly doesn’t exist anywhere but on a set. Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €50+
