Consigliatissimo. Yesterday I visited the restaurant L'Infinito a Tavola in Macerata with my girlfriend, attracted by the many positive Google reviews. Unfortunately, the windy weather didn't cooperate, so we couldn't enjoy the beautiful courtyard. However, the restaurant inside has a pleasant country house charm that I personally really liked. Ambiance and service: When we arrived, like some other guests, we had to wait a while because there was initially only one service employee available who was busy with a large order. After a few minutes, a second employee appeared and very friendly accompanied us to our table. The table, like many others, was directly under a jukebox that played Italian music all evening. Unfortunately, our box was slightly defective, which affected the sound quality and disturbed us throughout the evening. Both service employees were very friendly and spoke good English, which was very helpful to us. The menu could only be viewed online, which had the advantage that there was a picture for each dish. The dish really looked as described on the plate. However, navigating the website was a bit tedious and it didn't translate automatically, which was a minor downside. Food and Drink: The food was overall very good. We were greeted with an amuse-bouche right at the start and the drinks were also served quickly. The starters came quickly and were extremely tasty. The main courses were also served promptly after the starters. The portions were very generous and there was no skimping on the truffle, which will particularly please truffle lovers. Although we didn't find everything to our liking, the quality of the food was impeccable. Through the large viewing window into the kitchen we could see that the chefs had everything under control. Service issues: Unfortunately, after the main course was served, we, like other tables, were completely ignored. After a lengthy wait, we saw two more tables get up and go to checkout without their tables having been cleared. We followed this example. At the checkout we were asked if we would like another espresso - a nice gesture, but it came a little too late. The two service employees really did their best, but were significantly understaffed for the size of the restaurant and therefore overwhelmed. Conclusion: L'Infinito a Tavola is a charming restaurant with good food and friendly staff, although it was understaffed, which detracted from the overall experience. The price is rather high by Italian standards, but overall the price-performance ratio was good. I would recommend visiting the restaurant on a less busy evening to enjoy the full experience.
