I've had Au Furet on my watchlist since 2021 (five years ago). Every summer I came to Geneva, I thought about visiting this restaurant, but somehow never got the chance. This summer, I finally did. La Fuerte clearly states on its own website: āFriendly, warm and eager to offer you tasty dishes, our establishment is the creator and holder of a secret recipe that contributes to the reputation of our restaurant. Pioneers of prawns galore, we offer you a noble product that is a huge success with a local and cosmopolitan clientele.ā Sadly, my experience was the complete opposite. We stood at the entrance while waiters repeatedly walked past us without even saying hello or acknowledging us. Eventually, we had to approach them ourselves and ask for a table. An old lady asked whether we had a reservation, and when we politely told her we did not, she simply walked away and said that a reservation was required. We politely asked again whether they could find us a table. She then told us, in a dismissive manner, to go inside and sit wherever we wanted. What happened around us made the situation even worse. People arrived before we were seated and were welcomed and given a table outside without even being asked whether they had a reservation. They simply said they were five people and were seated. There was also a free table for two outside. When we asked if we could sit there, a man told us it was reserved. Shortly afterwards, two ladies arrived and were seated outside without a reservation. Then, after we finally sat down, we asked a waiter to take our order. His response was: āI am not ready to take your order.ā Why? Because he wanted to take the order of people who had arrived after us. The prawns and fries look amazing at this restaurant. Go and enjoy them if you are Western. Go and enjoy them if you are willing to accept being treated without dignity. But if you are an Arab, a Muslim and someone who values their dignity, this is not a place I would recommend. Because a restaurant is not defined only by its food. It is defined by how it treats people. And this experience reminded me of something, which is that not every male is a man. A man is defined by his character, not his gender. Respect, dignity and the way you treat other human beings are what define you. Five years I waited to visit this restaurant. I never imagined I would leave remembering the treatment rather than the food. This is the true story of a restaurant ran by racist people. Service: 1 Meal type: Lunch
