The receptionist was very rude. I arrived at 2:30 p.m., and I understand that check-in starts at 3:00 p.m. I also understand that the hotel had been fully booked the night before, especially in such a remote location (as she pointed out). However, I believe that greeting guests with at least a smile is the minimum level of hospitality anyone should expect. Later, as my friends started arriving, I think she realized I wasn’t happy with the way I had been treated. I ordered a gin and tonic and simply asked if I could have the small bottle of tonic so I could top up my drink. She seemed annoyed by this request. At one point, she also said something to me in French as I was walking away. I didn’t understand it because I don’t speak French, but based on her tone, it certainly didn’t feel polite. I’m sorry to say this, but this receptionist could really benefit from better customer service training. A little kindness and professionalism would make a huge difference in the guest experience.
