Perhaps the food is excellent: we were treated with such unspeakable rudeness that we resolved never to try it. Here’s why: After about 36 hours of travel, we bought a bottle of wine and a prepared dish at the nearby COOP and were ready to crash. Although our room at the adjoining Hotel de la Paix had 2 wine glasses, there was no corkscrew; so, when we asked at the Front Desk whether we might borrow one, we were referred to the “colleague” at the bar next door. That would be the Paix Blue. Here is what happened when we had the audacity to ask to borrow the corkscrew; so, we strongly urge that no one else ever try it. Starting with “Of course, there isn’t one in the room, and besides, he only had one” the barman proceeded to berate us for several minutes. Suffice it to say that we are francophone, so, unfortunately, we understood every word of his diatribe as he railed against “people who just wanted to travel, travel, travel and picnic in their rooms”! (Imagine that: travelers staying at a hotel.) Honestly, we thought he was going to refuse this simple request. But he complied and we returned to our room ASAP, determined never to set foot in the place again. I cannot remember a time when I was spoken to like that after the 1970s. There is no universe in which such behavior can be tolerated in the so-called hospitality industry.

We reserved a table with the fork. The food was good, but quite expensive for the price. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: CHF 70–80 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4
