Delicious food and a perfect stop near Oberhofen Castle We had a wonderful lunch at Restaurant Kreuz, and I would especially recommend it to anyone visiting Oberhofen or Oberhofen Castle. We originally planned to eat at the restaurant at the castle, but because it was raining, we needed to sit inside. They appeared to be preparing for tour groups and told us we either had to sit immediately or they wouldn't be able to accommodate us. The indoor space also felt rather stuffy, and both the atmosphere and menu seemed a little pretentious for the casual lunch we wanted. That turned out to be a blessing because we discovered Restaurant Kreuz, only about a three-minute walk from the castle. The restaurant has a beautiful, fully covered outdoor terrace. Even with occasional light rain, we stayed completely dry while enjoying fresh air and a nice breeze from the lake, which you can see in the distance. Most importantly, the food was absolutely delicious. I had the Egli-Fischknusperli ā crispy fried perch fillets ā with salad. The fish was fresh, flavorful and perfectly cooked, with a light crispy batter, and the large salad was fresh and very well balanced. My wife had the hamburger with fries and really enjoyed it. The burger was flavorful with red onions and other fresh toppings, and the fries came with a very good dipping sauce. Prices were very reasonable by Swiss standards, and the staff were reserved but very polite and pleasant. The restaurant is located at Hotel Kreuz, with its own entrance on the side, and you can approach it either from the main road or from the back when walking up from Oberhofen. If you're visiting Oberhofen Castle and looking for a relaxed, delicious lunch nearby, this is the place I would choose.
